Applicants are required to submit a proposal by clicking the “Apply” button on the BRIGHT Grant webpage, completed in English. Paper and e-mail submissions are not accepted. Applicants are encouraged to check the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) document provided below for additional details.

Apart from providing contact information of the proposed Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigators, and basic information and summary of the proposed research project, the applicant will be asked to upload the following documents in .pdf format, except for the project proposal, which should be provided as a separate Word file:

•   PI’s latest Curriculum Vitae (CV), using the template below for this solicitation.

•   A maximum five-page project proposal, using the template below for this solicitation.

•   Detailed budget for the 12-month funding period, using the template below for this solicitation.

•   A budget justification.

•   A copy of your institution’s registration license.

•   Letter of support from an official at the PI’s institution who is legally authorized to make commitments on the institution’s behalf.

Important Notes:

•   The BRIGHT Grant funds are issued only to institutions or organizations, not to individuals. Individuals who have no institutional affiliation or whose institutions are unwilling or unable to accept and manage a grant for them are not eligible to apply.

•   The applicants’ affiliated institutions must be able to receive funds from Tsinghua University via a project contract. This arrangement must be worked out in advance of submission of the application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make these determinations and arrangements.

•   If selected to receive funding, BRIGHT Grant projects involving human subjects cannot be initiated without prior submission and approval of a research protocol from a local Institutional Review Board (IRB).
